XECAN presents AI Lung Cancer Prediction

On 16 April 2024, XECAN, a leading innovator in advanced oncology solutions assisted by artificial intelligence, presents an AI Lung Cancer Prediction tool. The goal of this tool is to enhance early detection and intervention, as early diagnosis often improves treatment outcomes. By identifying individuals at a higher risk of developing lung cancer, healthcare providers can tailor screening programs and preventive measures to potentially reduce the impact of the disease.

What sets it apart is its ability to detect potential risks at an earlier stage compared to human doctors, thereby significantly mitigating the need for unnecessary biopsies. This not only ensures a more streamlined and cost-effective diagnostic process but also alleviates patient anxiety and discomfort associated with unnecessary medical procedures.

The XECAN Lung Screen tool stands out as a groundbreaking solution, leveraging the advanced capabilities of the Sybil lung screen AI model. This innovative technology provides a swift and comprehensive risk prediction for lung cancer, spanning a significant 1-6 year timeframe, all achieved through the simplicity of a single CT scan.

Sybil was collaboratively developed by MIT's Abdul Latif Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health, the Mass General Cancer Center (MGCC), and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH). Sybil has undergone validation using three independent datasets: a set of 6,282 LDCTs from NLST participants, 8,821 LDCTs from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and 12,280 LDCTs from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), including individuals with diverse smoking histories, including nonsmokers. The Sybil model aims to predict short and long-term lung cancer risk based on a single LDCT upload, without the need for additional clinical data or radiologist annotations. Deep Learning Based Predictor of Future Lung Cancer Risk Sybil is currently not FDA-approved and is intended for utilization in testing and research endeavors.

XECAN intends to retrain Sybil with more LDCT images. If you're interested in utilizing the XECAN Lung Screen tool and helping to improve the model. please let us know.

The AI model can be accessed online by sending email to info@xecan.com

XECAN Introduces Revolutionary AI-assisted Workflow and Patient Management System

Boston, MA On August 15, 2023,  XECAN, a leading innovator in healthcare technology, is thrilled to announce the launch of its  AI-assisted clinic solution that improves clinic workflow, patient tracking, treatment safety and overall quality of patient care. This cutting-edge solution harnesses facial recognition and advanced clinic algorithms to elevate patient care to unprecedented levels. Designed to cater to a wide range of multidisciplinary clinics and departments, including Radiation, Chemotherapy, Exam Rooms, Labs, Medical Oncology, PET, and Surgical Rooms, this system promises to revolutionize the healthcare experience.

With a strong focus on personalized care, XECAN's solution equips each specific treatment unit with its own unique workflow management whiteboards tailored to its specific needs. For example, within the surgical room, the facial recognition technology seamlessly registers patients in various areas such as surgical waiting, on-hold, in-suit, recovery, and discharge, all through the convenience of surgical whiteboards. This streamlined approach ensures a smoother and more efficient patient journey throughout their treatment process.

The AI-assisted workflow solution takes healthcare to new heights by offering a seamless and touchless approach, eliminating the need for manual handling by clinic staff. Through the power of facial recognition technology, the system effortlessly tracks patients throughout their entire journey, from reception to exam rooms, infusion areas, surgical suites, PET scans, labs, and treatment rooms.

By employing sophisticated algorithms and precise facial recognition, the solution ensures that each patient is directed to the appropriate waiting room, informing them about their waiting status. In cases where multiple appointments are required, the system efficiently communicates this information to patients through interactive whiteboards, streamlining their visit and ensuring a smooth transition from one appointment to the next.

Once inside the clinic units, the AI system again identifies the patient, guaranteeing that the right patient receives the correct medicine and treatment. This level of accuracy significantly enhances patient safety and the effectiveness of care.

The system not only optimizes workflow efficiency but also sets new standards for safety and patient care quality in clinics. By eliminating manual processes and leveraging cutting-edge AI capabilities, this solution is transforming the future of healthcare delivery.

Eskilstuna Improves Clinic Workflow and Patient Experience with XECAN Smart Clinic and CRAD cAutoVerify

Boston, MA On Jan 16, 2023, the Eskilstuna Malarsjukhuset radiation clinic went live with their XECAN integration, including XECAN smart clinic and CRAD cAutoVerify. The combined deployments enable the clinic to improve clinic workflow, along with patient safety and experience from reception and treatment rooms.

XECAN facial recognition automatically checks patients in as soon as they enter the clinic. Patients receive a personalized greeting at the kiosk and their arrival integrates into on-site MOSAIQ software. The patient then moves to the waiting room, which contains a XECAN’s patient ID whiteboard. The board’s live updates provide patients with their expected wait and treatment time, therefore alleviating potential stress. Once patients relocate to the treatment area, the software removes patients’ IDs from the board, all without manual staff intervention.

The treatment rooms contain CRAD cAutoVerify in front of the radiation vault. The facial recognition in the dome camera minimizes medical errors by ensuring that the right patients enter the right locations. Their personal treatment chart is verified simultaneously.

“The hospital staff's favorite part of the XECAN health system is the facial recognition. It is very useful and user-friendly. The system significantly improves our workflow and patient safety. The XECAN staff was also immensely helpful throughout” commented Goran Dahl, Lead Technician, Eskilstuna Malarsjukhuset, Sweden

“Eskilstuna clinic is a very innovative clinic. Its staff are devoted to improve patient care. It was an honor to work with them. We also like to thank our technology partner CRAD. It works very closely with us in the successfully implementation” according to Bin Yang. CEO of XECAN
