Xecan Emergency Room Whiteboards

Current ER dry-erase whiteboards are used to display information. Staff needs continuously add, delete or update them manually. Use of color markers, large grids, abbreviations, and special icons for confidential information can make the information very complex and busy.

Xecan smart patient identification and locating solution has been extended to apply to emergency clinics to improve clinic workflow and patient safety. The Xecan ER smart whiteboard is specifically designed to replace manual dry-erase boards.

Xecan smart whiteboards are reconfigurable for your specific clinic needs. Typical displayed patient care data are:

  • Patent location and wait time

  • Patient acuity and special risks (e.g. infectious disease)

  • Patient status (ready to be seen, with physician, labs pending, etc.)

  • Room/bed status (available, assigned, in need of cleaning)

  • Where patients, physicians and nurses should go next

  • Where bottlenecks are causing delays

Easy and Cost Effective Patient Identification and Locating

Xecan supports almost all the patient identification and verification methods. The selection of Xecan's patient identification and locating technology for your clinic is largely based on your clinic's existing technology infrastructure. We can, therefore, enhance or upgrade your current technology, and make it easy and cost effective.

Integration with Hospital EMR System

XECAN's integration wedges are designed to interface with various bar-code,  RFID and bio-metric scanners, allowing captured data to interact with your EMR system with minimum or no modifications.  Patient information from EMR systems are consistently fed to the ER smart whiteboards. This real-time information is displayed on all the clinic whiteboards.

Smart Clinical Analytics to Support Clinic Decision Making

One of the advantages of  the Xecan whiteboard is its analytics reporting engine to provide smart decision support for clinical and operational activities. An example of real time decision support is the calculation and display of operational statistics, which can support decisions about ER capacity and patient flow, including the management of ED overcrowding episodes.
